Where is this service indicator :!: :?:

When I first start in the morning, on the speedo bottom left a messages says "service due" this then goes out, mines is only just on 9k mileage

Totally unaware about the key fob :o

I'll try & find a few minutes to pop into the dealer later I think :?

Took it to the dealer who informed me my MOT was also overdue :?

The car is 1yr old, have they changed the MOT rules

Anyway they reset the date in the settings as it was 2yrs out :o

All's well now :)

Thanks guys :D

Had first service at 13,603 ..... 2nd at 26,602 ..... 3rd which is just a vehicle check at 37,006
Just had 4th one which was oils service at 57,268 but that was well overdue, needed all the filters at same time ....

Sorry about misleading before .... mine is the Cooper D by the way ...

First service completed this week.
08 Car, build date Nov 07
Covered 15000 miles and service indicator showing 9000 miles or Nov 09.

I asked Astle at Scunthorpe if they could do the first service while it was there for the indicater repairs. :)

Clubman S, Runs smoother and quieter after an oil change.

Had first service at Vines Guildford yesterday. Dealt with Peter Leggett:he is a really nice/helpful guy. Can't believe the difference in Bee she somehow feels so much smoother and more responsive, and somehow sounds better too. Definately smoother this morning, she has been needing a bit more throttle in the morning when pulling away until she was warmed up, but no jerkiness at all this morning. Very pleased.
Maybe I just missed driving her!!

Mines in next week for the "water in boot" problem :(

I'm going to ask them if they can plug into the diagnostic gear, just to check everything is running OK ;)

There is something strange about these service estimators....

Back in june, my car was displaying a service symbol and date 06 2009. as the car was only 8 months old, i knew a service wasnt required as the car had only cover 9k miles, therefore, i waited until i was next passing a dealer. Eventually, i popped into the dealer and they used their car key fob reader at the service desk, and this showed the car wanted an MOT at 11 months old!!
The technician reset the system and the service date changed to a display detailing it was due in 13,000miles ... and identified that an MOT wasn't due.
They identified that the key fob had been incorrectly programmed and was showing the car was an older model :!: :!: :?: :? :?:

now...i'm wondering whether it would be worth, for peace of mind, whether you guys who have concerns, to pop into your local dealer to see if the key fob is actually displaying the same as the car display and whether there is any discrepencies betweeen the two, or more importantly, whether you have exceeded the correct service time or like myself the incorrect vehicle details have been programmed.

might be worth doing it as it only takes the service desk 5 seconds to get reading from fob.

Took mine in for it's first service today, and had exactly the same problem.
The M.O.T date had been wrongly programmed when it was took out of transit mode.
Told it's quite a common problem.
They are programmed by the dealers when they do the PDI. Shows how good some dealers are!!!!

Had my first service today at just under 19k miles. Only had 50 miles left on indicator ;)

Got to go back to dealers at a later date though as they found a coolant pipe has been rubbing and its marked, no terrible damage but they want to replace it.

Interesting, which coolant pipe has/still is rubbing :?: maybe this is something we should all (Cooper S owners) be looking at and keeping an eye on :!:

Mine had it's first service this week, November 2008 reg, only done 11500 miles :? seems early as don't think my driving is any harder than you guys drive :? Still they did it :) I'm not complaining as the oil is now changed ;)

Today had the dreaded cold start noise for the first time that I'd noticed

I did ask the dealer about this as I'd read there was a new fix, left car overnight, but they say it's well within limit :(

Well it bl**dy well wasn't this morning :x

Also asked if they had had any early life clutch failures, he said no not really  what else would he say ;)

hi i work i a garage which looks after a fleet of gm engined vehicles we have had loads of works due to cam chain premature wear /tensioners fouled up . in my view its nuts to leave a oil change to this mileage a change with top quality lube cost £50 i think money well spent. esp if u have a heavy right foot . bob
