There is something strange about these service estimators....
Back in june, my car was displaying a service symbol and date 06 2009. as the car was only 8 months old, i knew a service wasnt required as the car had only cover 9k miles, therefore, i waited until i was next passing a dealer. Eventually, i popped into the dealer and they used their car key fob reader at the service desk, and this showed the car wanted an MOT at 11 months old!!
The technician reset the system and the service date changed to a display detailing it was due in 13,000miles ... and identified that an MOT wasn't due.
They identified that the key fob had been incorrectly programmed and was showing the car was an older model
now...i'm wondering whether it would be worth, for peace of mind, whether you guys who have concerns, to pop into your local dealer to see if the key fob is actually displaying the same as the car display and whether there is any discrepencies betweeen the two, or more importantly, whether you have exceeded the correct service time or like myself the incorrect vehicle details have been programmed.
might be worth doing it as it only takes the service desk 5 seconds to get reading from fob.
Took mine in for it's first service today, and had exactly the same problem.
The M.O.T date had been wrongly programmed when it was took out of transit mode.
Told it's quite a common problem.
They are programmed by the dealers when they do the PDI. Shows how good some dealers are!!!!
