I'm thinking of putting a set of uprated pads on, Would this be ok on part warn discs? I've always been told that pads and discs should be replaced together?
I'm also eventually looking to get some grooved and drilled discs, for cosmetic reasons more than anything but would be after the pads...

Roger(Czar) will probably correct me on this  I'm thinking new pads are ok on old discs, but not new discs with old pads :?

I didnt think of that, cheers Brettles-any idea what the best ones to go for are, discs and pads? Ive heard mintex and ferrado are good? discs are the ones I have no idea about, I believe I can opt for the R56 S discs and R53 works discs? Theres alot on ebay with the fronts drilled and grooved for around £100 which I think is dear considering you can get the R56 brembo discs for £140.

If got the R53 Works drilled and grooved discs on the front, but only because I was offered a pair for a very reasonable price when I was having EBC greenstuff pads fitted all round. Only fitted the greenstuff because the brake dust was doing my head in, but I have done a track day at Snetterton with them and they held up pretty well and are still going strong after about 18 months on the car! 8-)

And realising I can answer your first question, the new rear pads went onto the old rear discs ;)

In an ideal situation, then yes worn discs should be replaced along with new pads, however providing the disc has not yet reached it's safe working minimum limit, then replacing the pads will be fine, again however if you replace your current pad with a more aggressive compound (fast road/track) don't expect your part worn discs to last all that long!

Anyone tried the red stuff pads? They've been recommended to me.

As you haven't had a responce, if you want a superb brake pad, you need a set of Carbotech's, there are various grades of compound, from street to full competition, and for the money, you will not find better.
